Hamba Juma (33) and his wife, Nangobi, left Islam to follow Jesus in a small village in eastern Uganda.
His Muslim father, Hamba Ahammada (62), was enraged by his son’s decision.
He deceitfully came over to their home in January and had dinner with them.
Nangobi said, “After supper, my father-in-law requested the panga (long knife) from our son, aged 12, without us knowing. Shortly he called my husband, ‘Juma, Juma, Juma – come, come, come.’” Hamba Juma rushed over, thinking his father had some problem. When he reached there, my father-in-law picked up the panga and started cutting my husband, and he disappeared.”
“My husband screamed for help, we tried to make it to the hospital, but there he was pronounced dead.”
Lord Jesus, Hamba Juma was martyred for following You. He is now in Your presence experiencing the incredible joys of heaven. But he leaves a devastated wife and four young children who have lost their husband and father. May the Holy Spirit surround them with His supernatural peace and mighty protection from further harm. Bring help to Nangobi and her children who need provision of food and shelter and a way to survive in the future. May Hamba’s children grow up to become Christian leaders because of their father’s sacrifice. We ask that Hamba’s death would be a spark that ignites a powerful spreading of the Gospel in that area. Convict Hamba’s father of the evil he has done and bring him to justice by the authorities. We pray in Your Name which is above every name. Amen.
