Julia Sarkodie-Mensah’s life and career tell a powerful story of excellence, dedication, and service across the legal and governance spheres. With an outstanding record in law and judicial reform across continents, she continues to serve her nation and community with grace, intellect, and integrity.

A scholar of remarkable distinction, Julia Sarkodie-Mensah holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in History and an LLB. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to earn postgraduate diplomas in International Human Rights Law and Criminal Procedure, Records Management, and Juvenile Justice. Each qualification reflects her lifelong commitment to upholding justice, protecting rights, and strengthening legal systems.

Her illustrious legal journey began in Botswana, where she was called to the Bar in 1973. Over the years, her exceptional skill and professionalism earned her a sterling reputation in the legal community. After more than three decades of practice, she was elevated to the Bench as a Judge of the High Court of Botswana, where she served with fairness, wisdom, and a deep sense of justice.

In 1998, she was called to the Bar in Ghana, reconnecting her vast international experience with her homeland’s legal fraternity. Her expertise later attracted the attention of the Commonwealth Secretariat, where she was appointed as a Justice Reform Specialist and Criminal Justice Expert. In this role, she worked on judicial reform and capacity-building projects in Sierra Leone and The Bahamas, strengthening justice delivery systems and promoting transparency, accountability, and human rights in post-conflict and developing contexts.

Beyond her legal career, Julia Sarkodie-Mensah has extended her leadership into the realm of governance and traditional administration. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Ga Mantse (King of Accra). In this capacity, she provides strategic coordination and administrative oversight, supporting the vision and initiatives of His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II. Her experience in justice and institutional reform has been invaluable in enhancing the efficiency, diplomacy, and modernization of the royal administration.
