Young barristers called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Middle Temple have elected a Ghanaian national, Silas Boateng, as President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association, to serve as the representative of young barristers within the Inn.
The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple is one of the four historic Inns of Court in England and Wales and holds the exclusive authority to call students to the Bar of England and Wales.
The election was conducted on 7 April 2026, and the results were officially declared on 20 April 2026, with Silas Boateng emerging as the successful candidate. Before he was elected President, he served as Vice President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association from 2025 to 2026.
Born in Ghana, Silas Boateng obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2020. He subsequently pursued the Bar Course in the United Kingdom at the University of Law and was duly called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Middle Temple. He became a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2021.
Throughout his academic and professional development, Silas Boateng has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service.
He has held several notable leadership positions, including President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association (current), Vice President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association (2025–2026), Debate Officer of the Middle Temple Students’ Association (2022–2023), Chair of the Disciplinary Committee of the GIMPA Students’ Representative Council (SRC) (2019–2020), Justice of the Judicial Council of the GIMPA SRC (2018–2019), and President of the GIMPA National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) Constitutional Club (2017–2018).
In his capacity as President of the Middle Temple Young Barristers’ Association, Silas Boateng seeks to build upon the achievements and networks established by previous committees while introducing new initiatives aimed at supporting and advancing the interests of young barristers at the Middle Temple.
