New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Suhum has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Security of being behind a leaked audio of a mediation at the residence of former President Kufuor.

Frederick Opare Ansah said the National Security has an interest in every activity at Mr. Kufuor's house hence their decision to leak the meeting to the general public.

“…the NDC, as well as the national security, is behind it. They have the technology that can record all these voices, and I’m ready to prove it to you,” he told show host of Adom FM’s ‘Dwaso Nsem’ morning show Captain Smart on Friday.

“National Security has the capacity because I know they heard about the meeting and informed the NDC and later went there in their numbers and so I will be surprised if national security does not have interest in the former president’s residence and what he does," he stressed.

The office of the former President has confirmed that a meeting convened at the instance of Kufuor in his house to resolve the differences between the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party's National Chairman and the General Secretary, Messrs Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong respectively, was attended by some leading members of the clergy.

Members of the clergy who were said to be present are the Most Rev. Prof Emmanuel Martey, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana; the Most Rev. Charles Palmer-Buckle, the Catholic Metropolitan Arch-bishop of Accra, and Pastor Mensa Otabil, the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church.

But Opare Ansah pointed out that if the crisis in the NPP deepens, then it becomes advantageous to the NDC, thus his assertion that government together with the National Security masterminded the controversial leaked tape making rounds on social media.

“There is no problem if the NDC and the national security attend a meeting meant for NPP, but to the extent of leaking it to the public is very outrageous,” he insisted.

He, however, warned the NDC to stop painting their (NPP) leaders black and rather concentrate on how to fix the ‘broke’ economy.
