IEPS introduces new payment technology in Ghana



Innovative EPS Limited (IEPS), a Ghana-based information technology company, has launched a new payment gateway technology which will assist mobile telephone service providers in the country to alleviate current challenges and improve operational efficiency, the firm said in Accra on Tuesday
The IEPS electronic payment platform is connected to all the mobile phone companies in Ghana, MTN, Airtel, Vodafone, Glo, Tigo and Expresso, and can be used by customers of each of them to carry out transactions.
“The company’s technology platform is unique and flexible making it possible to integrate almost every service provider thereby providing a direct access to their customers who want to pay them for availing their various services,” IEPS said.
The vendor said it would soon be including on its platform major utility services such as ECG, Ghana Water and DSTV and others to collect cash and reach out to their customers on a 24/7 basis.
Commercial banks, microfinance companies, insurance companies, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the National Lottery Authority, property rental services and domestic airlines will be next to cover, according to IEPS.
“Customers can use their Account Number / code to remit physical cash into the cash safe mounted in the terminals,” the firm said.

The terminals have built-in security feature that can detect counterfeits system and fake notes.
